The Service Drill is also a good starting point for kids because it allows them to focus on making solid contact with the ball without simultaneously running, shuffling or jumping. Take four to eight players and split them into pairs, with each standing at the attack line (about three feet away from each other) opposite another pair. The pairs then take turns serving at one another, repeatedly taking steps back with each serve.
If you are in search of volleyball drills for middle school girls, then this is the perfect exercise for you. This drill is also called belly run through, in which three players need to lie flat on one side of the ground (facing the nets). Other three players should stand just in front of the net, facing the players who are lying down.

This drill intends to impart agility, stamina, and controlled-passing ability among the middle school volleyball players. Though a little demanding drill physically, it promises to prepare the kids into becoming complete volleyball players.
However, if you are new to coaching, you may not be aware that such a fun, easy volleyball serving drill exists! DEAD FISH. Split up two teams evenly of any number, say 5 vs 5, and have each team go to opposite serving lines. For 5 vs 5 I would recommend about 6 volleyballs. The teams line up and serve one at a time.

Passer starts on end line when serve is contacted the player runs and tries to catch ball before it hits the ground. Server gets 1 point for every ball that lands without the passer being able to catch it. Passer must run back to the end line. Repeat for a set amount of time, 2-3 minutes.
